Definition: The Nintendo DSi, released in 2008 (2009 in North America), is the third re-design of the Nintendo DS. Unlike the Nintendo DS Lite, which featured mostly aesthetic changes over the original Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DSi introduced several new features to the handheld. Some of these features include two built-in digital cameras, photo editing software, a downloadable Internet browser, access to downloads from the Nintendo DSi Shop, and an SD card slot.
Most of the Nintendo DS' library is still compatible with the Nintendo DSi, but the DSi doesn't have a Game Boy Advance cartridge slot. For this reason, neither Game Boy Advance games, nor games that require the cartridge slot for accessories (such as Guitar Hero: On Tour) are playable on the Nintendo DSi.
