About.com Rating two out of Five

From About.com

The Bottom Line

Mediocre in graphics, gameplay, sound, and art, Dream Pinball is a basic DS pinball game without much creativity or flair. While it has a wide variety of play modes, each barely varies from the one before it, leaving this game entertaining only in short bursts.

Pros

  • Dream Pinball has a handful of machines to pick from with themes like jousts and dinosaurs.
  • The game is well suited to the DS’s L and R triggers, which operate the left and right flippers.

Cons

  • Difficulty levels, as well as variants on one-player mode, seem practically indistinguishable.
  • It’s hard to enjoy watching the pinball move through the themed level, since the game’s visuals ar
  • Sound is generic and doesn’t add the atmosphere of the game.

Description

  • Release a ball and stop it from rolling off your screen by batting it with a series of plastic flippers.
  • Score extra points by knocking the ball into special areas and keeping it in play as long as possible.
  • Choose from alternate game modes, like "multiball."
  • Play online versus others users – if you can find any.

Guide Review - Dream Pinball Review

Dream Pinball isn’t a horrible game, but it’s definitely not a great one. Even with its unoriginal gameplay and lack of licensing, the title could have spiced things up by thinking up exciting themed machines. Players have no such luck. Some machines, like “Amber Moon,” don’t even make sense. The lack of distinction between the difficulty levels and play modes means there’s very little way chart your improvement, so each time you play feels the same: dull. Even the mechanics of the basic pinball game itself get wonky. Smaller flippers, which you can also control using the L and R triggers are located throughout the board. In theory they give the player greater control over the ball in play. Instead, they stick and add to the overall mediocrity of the game.
