Aksys Games wants you to get in shape for the coming of its new virtual novel/adventure game, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, and it's going to help you by giving you the chance to re-experience its predecessor, Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. Ah, but even 999 is getting a spit-shine: the game is getting a re-release at the end of September, and it's being outfitted with new box art for the occasion. Even more interestingly, the new release of 999 is now officially considered part of the "Zero Escape Series."

"For 'Zero Escape' we wanted to create a branding umbrella that VLR [Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward], 999, and any future games could rest under comfortably--a little like the 'Ace Attorney' brand, if you will," 999's editor, Ben Bateman, stated. "To do that, we thought about what it was that defined 999 and VLR and was common to both games, and eventually settled on the character of Zero and the idea that each game involves a dangerous escape. Hence, Zero Escape, which has the nice, ominous double meaning of 'You have zero chance to escape.'"

Keep an eye out for Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. If it's not in stores already, it should hit the shelves at any moment. Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward comes to stores on October 23.
