Okay, so Sega, Capcom, and Namco Bandai all walk into a bar--
And make a strategy role-playing game together.
That's it.
It's not much of a punchline, but it's still a pretty exciting event. The game is titled Project X Zone (pronounced "Project Cross Zone"), and it features a menagerie of popular characters from all three studios.
Specifically:
From Capcom: Ryu & Ken (Street Fighter), X and Zero (Mega Man X), Demitri and Dante (Darkstalkers, Devil May Cry), and Chris and Jill (Resident Evil)
From SEGA: Shinguji Sakura and Ogami Ichiro (Sakura Wars), Pai and Akira (Virtua Fighter), Kurt and Riela (Valkyria Chronicles), and Ulala and Touma (Space Channel 5 and Shining Force EXA)
From Namco Bandai: Sanger Somvold (Super Robot Wars), Jin and Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken), Kos-Mos and T-elos (Xenosaga), Yuri and Tear (Tales of the Abyss), and Kite and Black Rose (.hack)
According to Andriasang, we should see a trailer for Project X Zone later this month. Now, the burning question: will this game make it to North America/Europe? Being a hardcore Mega Man (X) fan myself, I can only wish it to be so. We'll have to wait and see, though.
