The basic concept behind Nintendo's hugely popular Pokemon franchise hasn't been tampered with much over the years. Basically, you find Pokemon, you battle 'em, and you breed 'em. But this summer, Tecmo Koei will present a new role for our Poke-pals in Pokemon Conquest for the Nintendo DS.
Pokemon Conquest is a turn-based role-playing game that takes place in Ransei, a fantasy land that's inspired by feudal Japan. You're cast as a young warlord who is linked with a Pokemon friend, and together, you travel the land in search of warriors to strengthen your kingdom. You'll make enemies and find allies amongst humans and Pokemon alike.

According to Nintendo, the battles in Pokemon Conquest are six-on-six, which is a little different from the standard Pokemon fare. However, you will still need to keep your Pokemon's strengths and weaknesses in mind, so don't go throwing any Magikarps against any Pikachus.
Pokemon Conquest has nearly 200 Pokemon in-game, including some familiar faces from Pokemon Black/White. The game hits the Nintendo DS (yes, the DS) on June 18, so expect more information as it comes through.
