The production of the Nintendo 3DS's game cards/cartridges is in the hands of a Taiwanese solid-state maker called Macronix. Some recent rumors have popped up about 3DS cartridges courtesy of a Taiwan-based game site called Gamrade: Supposedly, the cartridges are capable of holding up to 8 gigs of space, but Nintendo will be imposing a 2 gig data limit on developers--at least at first. Mind, this is all rumor, and Nintendo has yet to verify any of it.

Now we have memory cards--and tiny game cards--that hold gigabytes of storage with no problem. Who would ever have thought that game cartridges would be able to store so much information in such a tiny space?
