Earlier this week I posted that a Pokemon-related "shock announcement" is supposed to come from Japan this Sunday. How quickly I forgot that the Internet works on its own time. The secret was revealed today, or at least part of the secret: The next titles in the Pokemon series, Pokemon Black / White are coming to the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi.
Interesting how Nintendo has labeled the games with such "stark" colors after years of prettier, softer subtitles: Pokemon Ruby, Pokemon Sapphire, Pokemon Diamond, Pokemon Pearl, etc. Does this reflect some kind of change in the series? That may be the case. According to Joystiq.com's translation of Japan's Pokemon homepage, "Every [game] aspect will be reborn innovatively" in Black / White.
In February, a new Pokemon species, the were-fox Zoroark (right) was unveiled. Likely it'll be showing up in Pokemon Black / White.
Lots more information is forthcoming on April 15, according to the Pokemon website. Pokemon Black / White will hit Japan this fall, but North American and European audiences will likely have to sit tight for a while before we see a translation.
