Nintendo released some wonderful news for the holiday this week: Nintendo Points Cards are now edible!
Okay, no. They're not. Please do not attempt to consume Nintendo Points Cards.
However, Nintendo did send me a baked alternative to the little piece of plastic that lets you access all sorts of goodies on the Nintendo DSi Shop and the Wii Shopping Channel. It was quite a convincing replica!
Can't be too careful about the origin of foodstuffs in this day and age (lots of vegetables claiming to be grains, and whatnot), so a biological analysis was in order.
Breakdown:
Species: Cookie
Status: Delicious

What happens when the kind-hearted but somewhat inept defense lawyer Phoenix Wright gets himself into a bind? Well, he does channel the spirit of his deceased mentor--this is true. But what are his options beyond harassing the dead?
This remarkably fun fan video, which grafts gameplay from
Phoenix Wright and
Elite Beat Agents onto some fabulous music by Queen, gives us some insight into what Phoenix can do to make his career less miserable.

There's a hefty crop of Nintendo DSi titles available for download this week. Open up the DSi Shop and indulge!
The very first Rayman title can be yours for 800 Nintendo DSi Points -- yes, Rayman had a career as a second-tier platform star before he began hanging around those crazy Rabbids (usually against his will, admittedly). ESRB Rating: E (Everyone).
Ball Fighter is downloadable for 500 Nintendo DSi Points. It's a puzzle game that involves matching up and clearing away spherical objects, believe it or not. ESRB Rating: E (Everyone).
Pop Island, 500 Nintendo DSi Points, is a capture the flag-type game featuring all manner of cute animals in a fun setting. Be a penguin, a flying fish, or a...skateboarding mammoth, apparently. Keep playing and unlock even weirder creatures. Why not? ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)
Army Defender goes for 200 Nintendo DSi Points, and is what you need to blow off some steam. In this action shooter, you nest in a machine gun tower and defend your base against waves of enemy attacks. You can expect to see enemy footsoldiers, paratroopers, tanks, helicopters, bombers, and whatever else the enemy army sees fit to build and throw at you. Rated E10+ (Everyone Ten and Up).
myNotebook: Red is the electronic notebook you've always wanted. Yes, you've always wanted an electronic notebook for the Nintendo DSi. Don't deny it. Scribble your thoughts and feelings down for a mere 200 Nintendo DSi Points.
